The competition uses
events being promoted by cycle clubs in East Anglia. The courses are non dual
carriageway wherever possible so the emphasis of the competition is on finishing
position rather than super fast times. Ideally the SPOCO competition
would consist only of sporting, i.e. hilly and/or technically demanding events
promoted on minor roads. However, in order to have a choice of events
throughout the region, some which may not be described as sporting have
been included. Responsibility for
safety lies with the rider and the organising club of the individual events.
The scoring system is 120 points for 1st place, 119 for 2nd place and so on down to 1 point.
For seniors, ladies and vets the competition is calculated on the best
performance in the following :
Best 2 events from Category A
Best 3 events from Category B
Best event from Category C
For Juniors and Juveniles the calculation is made from the
Best 2 events from Category A
Best 2 events from category B.
Any number of events can be ridden as there is no minimum number of events
needed to qualify, however, it
is in your interest to ride the maximum number of counting events.
Only events ridden after
entering will count.
Awards:
First 3 in each age
category (senior, lady, junior/juvenile, veteran (40 -49), senior veteran (50
-59), super veteran (60 -69), king veteran (70+)). The rider with the greatest
points improvement on previous years results.
Awards to the team of
three riders from the same club with the highest total number of points.
Medals to all other riders completing the six (four for juniors) counting
events.
